Giancarlo Esposito, famous American actor and director, will be in Todi on October 3rd for the inauguration of the photographic exhibition by John R. Pepper “Inhabited Deserts”.
Also appreciated as an art creator, Esposito created for the occasion a work inspired by Picasso’s “Dove of Peace”, transforming one of John Pepper’s evocative photos of deserts into a bloody pacifist manifesto: an imaginary “bird of the desert” that flies over the dunes and drops an olive branch from its claws. A clear message to pacification and at the same time an invitation to put an end to conflicts in many parts of the world in order to allocate more resources to fight tragic pandemics, disastrous economic crises and devastating natural disasters.
The drawing will be presented and screened during the international round table “The absent border. Conflicts and new harmonies ”scheduled for October 2 in the Town Council Hall of Todi; the original of the work will be donated to the citizens and, printed in a limited number of copies, given to the audience present at the talk.
Four Emmy Award nominations and a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Giancarlo Esposito (62, Italian origins) starred opposite Paul Newman, Susan Sarandon and Gene Hackman and was directed by great directors such as Spike Lee, Abel Ferrara and Wayne Wang. Famous for his masterful portrayal of Gus Fring in the television series Breaking Bad, Esposito will again be the former Imperial Moff Gideon in the second season of the television series The Mandalorian which will be on air on Disney + platform from October 30th.
